Cronologia / Chronology 2011-2015

  • During the first semester of 2011 a sequence of revolutions did shake the Arab world: the Tunisian and Egyptian Presidents are deposed by the people; a civil war tears Lybia, Muammar Qaddafi is killed; in Syria the protests start up but bloodily suppressed. A civil conflict then starts up also in Syria, while the neighbour Iraqui state collapses. As a consequence, rebel islamist militias take control of a large part of Syrian and Iraqui territories, imposing a terror regime. Since then, war causes millions of refugees and about 300,000 deaths. The European union is surprised by, so called, “Arab spring” and unable to react to the fall of authoritarian regimes in the Southern Mediterranean and Middle East, proving, once again,  to be unable to understand the evolution of Arab societies. The euro-Mediterranean policy linked to corrupt politicians produces a new  failure. Instead of  supporting the democratic forces, in the name of stability, in Egypt supports the coup of General  Al-Sisi (later President).
