Call for abstracts

Dear colleagues,

this year the "III National PhD Conference in Social Sciences" will take place from 12 to 14 September 2018 at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", via Salaria 113 (RM). The Conference is organized by the PhD students in "Communication, Social Research and Marketing" of the Department of Communication and Social Research and by those of the PhD in "Applied Social Sciences" of the Department of Social and Economic Sciences, and is open to all PhD students, master graduates and new PhDs in Social Sciences.

In continuity with the prerogatives that have characterized the previous editions organized at the University of Padua, the "III National PhD Conference in Social Sciences" aims to be a place of meeting and comparison between experiences of study and research, but also of active debate on theoretical and methodological approaches to social sciences.

In order to allow a large participation of colleagues, the Conference does not foresee a registration fee and is consequently free of charge.

In the hope of facilitating the drafting of contributions for the Conference, a list of eight thematic areas is proposed below, on which the working sessions will be subsequently divided:

In order to set up wide-ranging and heterogeneous discussion groups, the organisers invite the topics listed to be considered as "flexible containers", which will be constructed with a view to achieving the highest possible interdisciplinary level. These macro-areas do not bind the acceptance of contributions relating solely to them, therefore the sending of contributions in other areas (e.g. epistemological, methodological, etc.) is encouraged. The Committee, on the basis of the contributions received, reserves the right to create new sessions.

For the selection procedure, a short biography and abstract (700 words including bibliography) must be submitted by 29 April 2018.

The proposal must include:

  • Title
  • 3 keywords;
  • Research objectives;
  • Brief theoretical framework;
  • Methodology;
  • Essential bibliography.

Following the notification of acceptance of the proposal, which will take place no later than May 14, 2018, all participants in the Conference are required to send a contribution (15,000-20,000 characters including spaces). The procedures and deadlines for sending the paper will be announced later.
