The Department of Communication and Social Research (CORIS) carries out teaching and research activities. It was founded in 2010 from the merger between the Department of Social Research and Sociological Methodology (RISMES) and the Department of Sociology and Communication (DISC). The DISC represents the legacy of the Institute of Sociology, founded by Professor Franco Ferrarotti over 50 years ago.
Scientific research and study programs at CoRiS are characterized by a wide variety of elective subjects, strongly rooted in the fields of communication sciences and social research.
The Department offers and promotes teaching and research activities in the areas of sociology, human sciences, and media studiesperforming remarkably at the national and international level.
The CoRiS Department is also characterized by a large number of facultyu and staff, listing 76 professors and 20 administration and accounting employees.
As of 2010 the Department forms the Faculty of Political Science, Sociology, Communication of Sapienza University of Rome.
