Alessandro Ruvio received the M.S. degree in electrical engineering with honour, awarded with the title “Excellent Graduate”, and the Ph.D. degree at Sapienza University of Rome in 2012 and 2019 respectively.

Assistant Research at the Engineering Department of Astronautics, Electrical and Energetic at “Sapienza” University of Rome, from 2013 to 2015. In 2019 has become an Assistant Professor.

His main research topics have been: energy saving in electrical systems for transportation both DC and AC, primarily on braking energy recovery and storage application in railway systems; home and building automation. These activities have been supported also by experimental measurement campaigns.

From to 2015 to 2019, he starts to work on Smart Grids in the field of energy efficiency and power quality. Several research activities have been carried out on: new naval integrated power system architectures both AC/DC adopting methodologies and solutions able to improve the on-board power quality; on penetration of electric vehicles in Smart Grids with hosting capacity studies and harmonic disturbances evaluations, focuses on modelling time-varying non-linear loads in power systems developed during a period spent abroad at CERIn - UNIFEI – Brazil.

Since 2014, his teaching activity is performed in a second level master's degree in “railway infrastructure engineering (at Sapienza). From 2019 is teaching “Power Systems for Electrical Transportation” course for Erasmus Mundus, Joint Master Degree on Sustainable Transportation and Electrical Power Systems (EMJMD STEPS).

He is: a Member of the Italian Federation of Electrotechnics, Electronics, Automation, Informatics and Telecommunications (AEIT); assistant on projects financed by Enea, Navy, and Ministry of Economic Development; reviewer for many technical journals.

Nowadays is Guest Editor of Special Issue in Energies: Electric Systems for Transportation and Special Issue in Energies: Modeling and Simulation of Electricity Systems for Transport and Energy Storage

He is a member of editorial board of Electronics, EISSN 2079-9292, Published by MDPI.
