University Departments of Excellence Project
UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENTS OF EXCELLENCE PROJECT
In 2017 our department won a national selection, launched by the Italian Ministry for University and Research (MIUR), which has identified a number of "Departments of Excellence" in Italy.
Departments of excellence
The Departments of Excellence represent an innovative project sustained by strong financial support, which has been planned by the law 232 of 2016 (2017 budget law). This project aims to identify and to finance every five years the best 180 Departments between all the italian public universities, within the 14 CUN areas. The selected Departments stand out for the quality of research they have produced and for the development project, and they have been awarded an annual budget of 271 million euros.
The project
This project aims to create an interdisciplinary research task force concerning one of the most relevant social issues: migration flows and inclusive practices in Europe and Italy. Due to this important social challenge, which requires immediate answers, our Department wants to strengthen the interconnections between the scientific sectors which excel at research, teaching and international partnerships, and to provide an immediate socio-economic impact through existing services and by creating new consultation services that will deal with psychosocial implications related to migratory phenomena.
