The Department  is headed by the Chairman who represents it for all legal purposes and guarantees the autonomy and cultural unity of it.

In order to pursuit its institutional tasks the Department has administrative and organizing autonomy as to all contractual and conventional financial measures concerning it directly, with both public and private subjects, in compliance with the existing legislative framework, with exclusion, however, of administrative measures of general nature or relating to matters reserved to other bodies identified by the Statute of Sapienza for these purposes.

The bodies of the Department are: the Department’s Council,  the Chairman,  the Executive Committee. The Chairman of the Department is supported in the management of the Department’s activities by the Administrative Manager, who is responsible for the Administrative Secretariat and coordinates administrative and accounting activities jointly and severally liable with the Chairman for  any resulting acts.
