Pietro Valdoni (1900 - 1976)

Prof. Valdoni surgeon and clinical professor at the University La Sapienza in Rome is considered  one of the greatest exponents of Italian surgery:  his technique has ranged from the hearth to the abdomen. He has created innovative surgical techniques and published important studies on the correction of congenital malformations of the heart and great vessels and has been one of the pioneers in lung, esophageal  and intestinal cancer surgery.

 Between 1967 and 1975 he served as chairman of the National Health Council.
