-General Information, Academic Appointments, Awards

Antonio Colucciareceived his Degree in Medicinal Chemistry and Technologiesat La Sapienza, University of Roma in 2004. He received his PhD in 2008 working on a project titled “Non-nucleosidic Inhibitors of HIV reverse transcriptase” at Rome Centre of Molecular Design of La Sapienza University. In 2007, he was two years visitor researcher at Welsh school of Pharmacy of Cardiff funded by Istituto Pasteur – Fondazione Cenci Bolognetti. In 2010 he was awarded by Istituto Pasteur – Fondazione Cenci Bolognetti  of a two years post-doc bursary to work on the development of novel anti-tubulin binding agents. In 2012 and in 2013 he was granted by Dept. of Chimica e Tecnologie del Farmaco of La Sapienza University of Roma with one-year research bursaries to carry out the projects focused in the application of computer aided drug design method for the development of new drugs targeting the tubulin dimers and polymers.

In the 2012 it was awarded by the Facoltà di Scienze Matematiche, Fisiche e Naturali, Università degli Studi dell’Aquila,of the “Cultore della Materia” nomination for Medicinal Chemistry.

In 2015 he become researcher (RTD-A) at Dept. Chimica e Tecnologie del Farmaco of La Sapienza University of Rome, working on a project titled “Design of new modulators of proved neoplastic pathway (microtubule, IDO, EPAC and Hedgehog) and pathogen virus (Flaviviridae, Retroviridae, Picornaviridae). In 2018 he obtained a 2-year renewal of the RTD-A deal.

In 2016 he obtained the “Abilitazione scientifica nazionale” (SC: 03/D1 - Fascia 2)

Ricerca
Aree di interesse:

The research activity of Antonio Coluccia is focused on the discovery of anticancer and antiviral “drugs” by the application of molecular modelling methods. The field of interest are antitumor drugs such as the tubulin polymerization inhibitors and tumor immunomodulation; and the antiviral drugs for HRV, HCV and HIV infections.

The research activity takes important returns by national and international collaborations such as: Prof. A. Brancale (Welsh school of Pharmacy, Cardiff University, UK); Prof. O. Takikawa (National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology, Obu, J); and Prof. F. Lezoulac’h (Institut des Maladies Métaboliques et Cardiovasculaires, Université Toulouse III).
