Project aim

Study of the structure of the polysaccharide Trametano

Purification and working with ready-purified polysaccharide.

Defining the structure of the active component of polysaccharides thus enabling their synthetic  production.

Elucidating the action mechanism of Trametano and of its active moieties on aflatoxin inhibition

Searching for a putative fungal polysaccharide receptor in A. flavus.

Elucidation of the signal cascade following Trametano perception in A. flavus.

Searching for a common structure among fungal polysaccharides that allow their ability to biocontrol mycotoxins

Study of the effect of different polysaccharids extracted and purified from fungi as Lentilula edodes, Grifola frondosa, Ganoderma lucidum, Schizophillum and Pleurotus on aflatoxin inhibition. Comparison of specificity and non-specificity of the different polysaccharide compared to the mechanism of action of Trametano.
