PhD in Management, Banking and Commodity Sciences

The PhD in Management, Banking and Commodity Sciences is a three-year course that originates from the fusion of three existing PhDs: Economics, Finance and Firm Government, Bank and Financial Management, and Commodity Sciences.
The fundamental objective is to provide the PhD candidates with a scientific culture and advanced technique, characterized by a strong interdisciplinary approach, highlighted by the interconnection between the thematic areas of the scientific disciplines that distinguish the PhD.
Such formation is achieved through the development of a critical attitude towards problems, through the ability of scientific inquiry, which have been the distinctive elements of the experience gained through the formation activities of the three previous PhDs.
The formative aim of the PhD is, therefore, to transfer knowledge in an interdisciplinary approach in relation to the main theories and management models developed for the study of Firm Management, Innovation and the Environment, Markets and Financial Intermediaries.
In the three years of the PhD, candidates will acquire general methodological research skills, meaning a combination of necessary knowledge to both understand and address research issues and apply them in reality.
To achieve the above mentioned objectives, the PhD course is divided into three curricula, which incorporate:
a) Preparatory courses designed to provide knowledge necessary to study the thematic areas addressed by all PhD candidates;
b) Specialized courses on the basic research topics addressed by the scientific areas belonging to the PhD;
c) A specialized training in regards to the three curricula specified below.
Particular attention will be given to international studying activities, research and training cooperation agreements, aimed at enhancing the quality of the PhD.
This objective, pursued through the membership in a network of many partner Universities, is to facilitate and expand cooperation with European, American, Asian and other countries’ PhD on Economics, Business, Banking and Commodity Sciences disciplines. Such network aims at reinforcing co-supervisions, student and teacher mobility between partner institutions to confront each other on specific research areas and develop common scientific programs.
The creation and development of scientific cooperation will be fostered by the many international contacts and relationships developed by the individual components of the Academic Board.
