The General Herbarium

It was established on the initiative of Pietro Romualdo Pirotta. It is organized in a phanerogamic section and in a cryptographic section and gathers specimens from Italy and abroad. The General Herbarium includes part of the collections of Fiorini Mazzanti, Mauri, Rolli, Sanguinetti and Sebastiani; collections purchased or received in exchange from private individuals or botanical institutes in Italy and abroad; collections by De Notaris, Pedicino, Pirotta and their students, and the precious cryptogamic herbarium by Giuseppe De Notaris, interspersed in the cryptogamic section.
