Again and again and again: how glutamate transporters shape our obsession

On Thursday 13 December 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Luciani hall (CU027 - Human Physiology Building - Piazzale Aldo Moro 5, Rome), there will be a neuroscience seminar entitled "Again and Again And Again: how glutamate transporters shape our obsession". The event, which was organized by the Center For Research in Neurobiology "Daniel Bovet" and by the European Brain Reasearch Institute, foresees an intervention by Annalisa Scimemi of the University at Albany. The aim of the seminar is to better understand the functional properties of central synapses, which are the specialized structures that convert the electrical activity of a neuron into a chemical signal for its target cells. Despite the fact the brain regulates every aspect of our daily life, many of the fundamental mechanisms behind these functions remain unclear. The ultimate goal is to obtain information regarding the functional consequences of changes in synaptic function associated with the onset of various neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.
The seminar will be opened by Enrico Cherubini, scientific director of the European Brain Reasearch Institute.
