The Master Course STS founded by Prof. Carlo Buongiorno, pivotal figure of space activities in Italy. Buongiorno, Professor of Aerospace Propulsion at the Roman University and pioneer of the Italian and European space programmes, in addition to being a Master for many engineers and teachers in the field and having held key positions (among others, the first Director-General of the ASI), was the architect of many international collaborations among which the design of the small launcher that in its evolution led to the VEGA program.

Over the past decade, the Master Course in Space Transportation Systems (MC-STS) paved the most effective way for hiring in Space Industries for more than 100 students. At today’s date, many MC-STS’s former students play a prominent role in the making of the main European space programs.

From this year edition, MC-STS will benefit of the presence of Prof. Jean Jacques Dordain, former ESA General Director, who will participate to the activities of the MC-STS.

In addition to the opportunity to spend one and a half month of training at the most renown European Space Launcher Centers, whose related mobility expenses are entirely covered by a specific contribution of the European Space Agency, the students enter a six-month internship period carried out at the sponsoring industry, who will offer a monthly compensation to the trainees.

The participation of students coming from different UE and not-UE Universities will turn the attendance to the MC-STS into a unique opportunity to study and work in an international environment under the supervision of Prof. Dordain. following researchers' group confirmed the strategic importance of space activities for scientific research, industrial development and more generally for the economy of Italy. Thanks to their work this Master Course is open from 2003 and is arrived until XIVth Edition.
