The role of an academic library assessing research in the open science age
Nowadays academic libraries have become a key element in supporting researchers beyond the provision of access to content. Libraries are engaged in the dissemination of the scientific production through institutional repositories and supporting university journals, most of them open access. Moreover libraries have been also involved in research information systems working together with research offices. Through this collaboration libraries bring their expertise on bibliometric analyses, especially on evaluation processes. The implication of libraries in the processes of assessing research would be fundamental in the new challenge that universities are facing: open science. In this talk we would suggest how libraries could play a key role in all those processes.
