Services for external users (no members of Sapienza community)

External users are all those who are authorised by the directors of the specific libraries on the basis of their respective regulations (scholars, professionals, teachers and students from other universities or educational institutions, etc.).

In order to be registered as an external user, you need to contact a Sapienza library (the one you are most interested in) and make a request. The library will ask for your personal data and an identification document. Libraries are free to accept external users or not. The acceptance registered in one library is not binding for the others.

When the message "You are not authorised to borrow from the library" appears, it means that the book you require is owned by a library where you are not registered as an external user. In this case, you can contact the library to ask if your registration can be extended to their services.

External users are entitled to use the services and bibliographic collections of the Sapienza libraries according to the regulations in force. An alternative way of borrowing a book is to request an inter-library loan or the document delivery service.

You can request a scan of some pages of a book or periodical, in compliance with copyright regulations, by contacting the Sapienza library that owns the book/periodical. Find all contacts from the dedicated webpage
