The final exam consists in defending an experimental or theoretical thesis. The thesis is executed under the supervision of an instructor of the Special Master program possibly in collaboration with research centers and industries.
Passing the final exam corresponds to earning 24 credits.
Only students that have completed their entire coursework can take the final exam.
The Dean of the School of Aerospace Engineering chooses the committee members for the final exam among faculty members and experts in aerospace engineering; the faculty members are not necessarily from Sapienza University. The are at least seven members in the committee.

La prova finale consiste nel presentare una tesi sperimentale o progettuale, da eseguire sotto la guida di un docente del corso di Laurea a Statuto Speciale, anche in collaborazione con industrie e centri di ricerca.
La tesi, assegnata da un docente del corso di Laurea a Statuto Speciale che ne sarà il relatore, deve essere redatta in lingua inglese. Il superamento dell'esame finale da luogo all’attribuzione di 24 crediti.
All’esame finale possono accedere gli studenti che abbiano superato tutti gli esami di profitto degli insegnamenti inseriti nel proprio piano di studi.
La commissione per l'esame finale, nominata dal Preside della Scuola di Ingegneria Aerospaziale, è composta da docenti ed esperti di comprovata competenza nel settore, anche esterni alla Sapienza, e consta di almeno sette membri.
