Ricerca Internazionale

Abstract
Combining Bachtin’s essential category of extra-location (vnenakhodimost’) with the theoretical notion of “minor literature” elaborated by Deleuze and Guattari, the project intends to propose an "extralocal" study of “other” European cultures, moving from the "minor" point of view of Polish and Italian scholars, encouraging, at the same time, the involvement of different cultural areas. The aim is to contribute to a wider European concept of cultural exchanges, revising conventional interpretations of literatures and languages, observed in a national perspective only. To hear oneself on another’s tongue, to look at one’s own from outside, to compare the gaze on the same “other” from different perspectives, help to understand and go beyond the boundaries of one's own culture, to overpass the confines of the dominant languages and cultures, to link the individual to a shared cultural field in an interconnected multiplicity. The look from the outside invites “becoming-minor,” in order to recognize and comprehend difference and sameness, and in this perspective minor designates the conditions for every literature within the European framework.
