Professor Carmen Gallo

Carmen Gallo is now Junior Researcher at Sapienza Università di Roma.

She edited the new edition (translation and commentary) of The Waste Land by T.S.Eliot (Il Saggiatore 2021), the translation of "Lives of Great Poisoners" by Caryl Churchill (Editoria&Spettacolo 2020), and the translation of All is True, or Henry VIII by Shakespeare and Fletcher (Bompiani 2017). She also published several essays on metaphysical poets (Donne, Herbert, Crashaw), Shakespeare, Marlowe, Milton, Defoe, T.S. Eliot, Beckett, Anders Lustgarten. In 2018 she published the book L'altra natura. Eucarestia e poesia nel primo Seicento inglese ("Another Nature. Eucharist and Poetry in Early Seventeenth Century English Literature") for ETS Pisa, and won Tempera Book Prize 2018 (Italian Association for Shakespearean and Early Modern Studies). She also edited the collection of essays La misura del disordine. Miraggi e disincanti nella poesia barocca europea (Pacini 2020), Landscapes and Mindscapes. Metodologie di ricerca, percorsi geocentrati e poetiche dello spazio in una prospettiva comparata (Marchese 2014), with Stefania De Lucia and Danilo Marino, and an issue of Anglistica Aion "Stage and Beyond. Space and Place in Contemporary Theatre" (20.2, 2016) with Clément Lévy.

Her research fields are early modern poetry and theatre, eighteenth-century novel, T. S. Eliot, Beckett, the relationship between literature and religious issues and the history of twentieth-century Anglo-American criticism.
