Epitaxial quantum dots (QDs), also dubbed “artificial atoms”, are semiconductor nanostructures able to generate photons with high efficiency and they are intrinsically compatible with current photonic-integration technologies. This project aims at studying single epitaxial QDs as sources of single and entangled photons. The QDs will be studied by means of different experimental techniques, including micro-photoluminescence (resolved in time and polarization), Michelson spectroscopy, photon-correlation spectroscopy and quantum state tomography.
