My research interest is mainly focused on the cross-talk between neurons and glia as determinant to the establishment and maintenance of a brain environment to ensure normal function. In particular the role of astrocytes and microglia cells as active players that respond to environmental changes and act for the survival, growth, differentiation and repair of the nervous tissue, with special interest on the role played by chemokines as mediators of neuron-glia cross-talk in brain homeostasis both in physiological and in pathological conditions.
