CIRCE-ICE thermal stratification
•A numerical activity, aimed at assessing the RELAP5-3D© capability to reproduce the main thermal-hydraulic phenomena in an HLM pool-type facility, in different operative conditions, is presented. An experimental campaign promoted in the CIRCE-ICE test facility at ENEA-Brasimone was used for the validation.
•The comparison between the simulation results and the experimental data confirmed the capability of the code to reproduce the thermal-hydraulics of the main flow path.
•The analysis of the pool thermal-hydraulics has highlighted a more accurate result adopting the three-dimensional nodalization scheme
