Plasmonics, or the science of electromagnetic surface waves in the infrared/optical range , has reached maturity for what concerns nanofabrication and simulation techniques. The development of a new class of photonic biosensors requires now an experimental effort for the verification of theories.It is proposed to the research fellow an experimental study, employing the near-field and far-field infrared spectroscopy techniques already available in the Departments’ labs, of samples designed and fabricated by external project partners: 1) Optical Nanoantennas for vibrational circular dichroism plasmonics (project PRIN2015); 2) Bloch Surface Waves for the detection of vibrational anisotropy in protein monolayers (project Ateneo2017-H2020).
