Rules

 

Art.1 GENERAL PRINCIPLES

1a. the “Angelo Monteverdi” Library belongs to the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy and provides library services and document them with the aim of encouraging study and research in the humanities. The tasks of the library consist in the acquisition, conservation, cataloging and dissemination, towards its users, of scientific production in the disciplinary fields of interest. The library is part of the Sapienza Library System (now called SBS).

1b. The library guarantees access to users of the Sapienza library system, both institutional and external, without any restrictions, who must use its bibliographic heritage and services; 1c. guarantees access to paper and electronic collections through the library catalogues, the university catalog and other online catalogues, ensuring its regular updating as far as it is responsible; it also provides for the retrieval and cataloging of online resources open access;

1d. provides services to all users in compliance with equal rights and simplification of procedures;

1e. guarantees services according to the established times and methods, with continuity and regularity, promptly communicating any interruptions through notices paper documents posted at the entrance to the library, on its website and on other electronic sources set up for this purpose.

 

Art. 2 LIBRARY USERS

Library users are: a) institutional users, i.e. students, teachers, researchers, doctoral students, the scholarship holders, the technical-administrative staff. b) external users (teachers and students from other universities and other educational institutions, subject experts, professionals, etc.). To access the services of the Angelo Monteverdi Library, the user must register with the library in the Distribution Room.

 

Art. 3 FUNDAMENTAL RULES

1) The Library is a place of study where silence is mandatory and respectful behavior is observed so as not to cause disturbance.

2) You shouldn't speak out loud.

3) Food, drinks and mobile phones must not be brought in.

 

Art. 4 OPENING HOURS

The library guarantees its opening hours and access to services, based on the human resources it has and its resources needs of its institutional users.

The consultation room is open from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 19.00.

 

Art. 5 SERVICES

The works placed on "open shelves" can be taken directly by the user and consulted exclusively in the room.

Consultation of open shelf collections may be excluded from registration, but, where permitted, monitoring systems may be adopted.

To consult collections stored in rooms not accessible to the public, the user can also advance the request by email or telephone.

The loan service allows the user to use book material outside the library rooms for a period of 15 days, extendable for another 15 days.

The following are subject to restrictions for external lending: periodicals and miscellanies, both in loose and bound issues; specialist reference works; ancient, rare and valuable works; works in a precarious state of conservation; cartographic material; the exam texts.
