For which questions should I contact the Teaching Management Commission (“Commissione Gestione della Didattica” or CGD) for which the student secretariat and for which directly the teachers?

The CGD manages issues relating to:

  1. study program
  2. course abbreviations (credit recognition for transfers, for students who have already graduated, etc.)
  3. student applications (replacement of no longer active exams, etc.)

For any queries relating to the previous points, you can write to the following email address: ingegneria_sicurezzaprotciv.lm26@uniroma1.it

The Student Secretariat manages issues relating to:

  1. matriculation and enrollment procedures for subsequent years and relative deadlines
  2. transfer procedures from other degree courses or from other universities
  3. acceptance of applications for shortening courses (credit recognition, etc.) and applications from students in general (e.g. part time)
  4. acceptance of the degree applications and instruction of the relative practices

The student office of the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering is in the University City (Viale Regina Elena entrance). For opening hours and contact details, consult the Sapienza website: http://www.uniroma1.it/didattica/sportelli/segreterie/segreteria-studenti-di-ingegneria

The teachers manage the problems related to:

  1. didactic activity of their courses
  2. didactic material
  3. exam sessions

Generally, the e-mail addresses are in the format name.surname@uniroma1.it; telephone numbers can be found on the Sapienza website: http://www.uniroma1.it/contatti

The study program plans a course for my year of study and this semester I do not find it in the teaching timetable. How should I do?

Maybe the course is taught but with a different name, or it has been moved to another semester or it is no longer taught. The study programs of the past academic years can be found at the following link: https://web.uniroma1.it/cdaingsicurezza/didattica/regolamenti

The study program planned xx credits for a course in my year of study, while the same course this year plans yy credits. How should I do?

This happens when the number of credits assigned to the course has been changed. If the course now includes a lower number of credits than it had previously, the teacher will have prepared additional ad hoc didactic activities (cycles of exercises, term papers, etc.). If the course, on the other hand, now provides for a higher number of credits than it had previously, the teacher must be contacted and he/she will indicate which parts of the program to refer for the reduced number of credits.

Where can I find information on timetables, exam sessions and graduation deadlines?

Information relating to the teaching timetable and calendar (including the deadlines for graduation exams and the dates of graduation sessions, exam sessions and number of scheduled exam sessions) can be found on the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering website in the menu "Didactics" (https://www.ing.uniroma1.it/didattica).

Each teacher sets the exact dates of the exams and the deadlines for booking through the Infostud system (https://www.uniroma1.it/it/pagina-strutturale/studenti)

When should the study plan/training course be done?

The study plan / learning path, once approved, defines the path that the student will have to follow to graduate. It must therefore be done as soon as possible and in any case by 31 December of the current year.

How many times can the study plan/learning path be changed?

A study plan can be submitted for each (calendar) year.

How should the study plan/learning course be submitted?

The study plans / learning courses must be submitted via the Infostud portal (https://www.uniroma1.it/it/pagina-strutturale/studenti).
In case of problems in closing the study plan / learning course on the Infostud system, it is necessary to contact the CGD by writing to ingegneria_sicurezzaprotciv.lm26@uniroma1.it

What should I do to enrol in the bachelor's (not opened actually)/master's degree?

The information can be found on the Sapienza website at the link "Courses and Enrollments"  (https://corsidilaurea.uniroma1.it/) then following the link to the degree and master's degree courses of the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering (currently, https://corsidilaurea.uniroma1.it/it/corso/2019/30427/home). For the master's degree, verification of the minimum requirements is mandatory. Once the verification of the requirements has been passed, Infostud sends an e-mail message and it is possible to print the tax form to be paid and to enrol.

It is recommended that those who want to enroll in the master's degree and have not graduated from Sapienza University, to send a copy of the documentation relating to the obtained degree by e-mail and the exams taken at the following email address: ingegneria_sicurezzaprotciv.lm26@uniroma1.it, after that the request for verification of the minimum requirements has been submitted through Infostud and paid the related tax form.

How do I know if I meet the minimum requirements to enrol in the master's degree?

It is necessary to obtain a degree certificate indicating the exams passed, the credits and the scientific disciplinary sector (SSD) of each exam. To enroll in the master's degree it is necessary to have obtained at least 30 credits in basic subjects (mathematics, computer science, statistics, physics and chemistry) and 60 credits in characterizing subjects (civil-environmental and / or industrial engineering): the specific SSDs are shown in the study program. For five-year graduates (VO) each annual exam is considered equal to 10 credits.

In fact, practically all three-year and five-year graduates in the civil-environmental and industrial engineering classes meet the minimum requirements; graduates in architecture, management engineering, geology and environmental sciences may also meet the required requirements, while graduates in computer engineering, electronic engineering and degrees in the "medical" class are unlikely to meet them.

I am enrolled in a five-year degree course (VO) and, with the exams I have passed, I verify the minimum requirements, but I have not obtained the degree. Can I enroll in the master's degree?

No, only three-year, five-year or specialists’ graduates can enroll in the master's degree.

If I do not satisfy the minimum requirements, can I still enroll in the master's degree with "debts"?

The law does not allow enrollment in the master's degree for those who do not meet the minimum requirements, so it is necessary to have settled the "debts" before enrolling. Therefore, the student must obtain the missing credits by attending and passing university exams in the disciplines in which the deficiencies are found. To do this, it is necessary to enroll in the so-called "free courses" at the universities (paying the relative fee) and enrollment in the master's degree will slide (at least) to the following year.

I enrolled in the master's degree, but I have already attended some courses in the three-year course like those offered to me in the master. Can I have my credits recognized?

Possession of a three-year degree, and the 180 credits obtained, are the necessary condition for enrolling in the master's degree. This means that credits acquired in the three-year course cannot be considered in the master's course: practically, the student's previous career is "zeroed" and all students enrolled in the master's degree must take the 120 credits provided, regardless of previous studies.

I applied for a transfer to the master's degree, but I come from another degree course (five-year or master's). How many and which exams will I be recognized?

In order to recognize exams, there must be a substantial correspondence between programs, credits and the scientific disciplinary sector (SSD) of the courses passed with those provided for in the master's degree study program (“Manifesto degli Studi”). In some cases, the CGD can "merge" several exams with each other, or recognize exams in a partial way, requiring an integration of missing credits. If there is no correspondence between the exams and / or credits acquired and the courses provided for in the study program, it is possible to recognize these credits within the "free choice of the student", obviously, within the limits of the number of free choice credits provided in the study program.

I have a university master. How many and which exams will be recognized?

To recognize exams for the courses envisaged in a Master, there must be substantial correspondence between programs, credits and the scientific disciplinary sector of the courses passed with those provided for in the master's degree study. The CGD can "merge" several courses with each other, or recognize exams partially, requiring an integration of missing credits, or defer the definition of "ad hoc" exam programs to a possible agreement between student and teacher of specific courses. If there is no correspondence between the credits acquired and the courses provided for in the study program, it is possible to recognize them as part of the "free choice of the student", obviously, within the limits of the number of free choice credits provided for in the study program.

Which course abbreviation (credit recognition) will I be recognized based on my work experience and how can I ask for it?

The law provides that, for extra-university (certified) experiences, a maximum of 40 credits can be recognized for the master's degree. Credits can be recognized as internship or course-related credits. The course abbreviation must be requested by making a written request to the student secretariat and sending a copy of the documentation by e-mail to the CAD President by writing to: ingegneria_sicurezzaprotciv.lm26@uniroma1.it

1 credit is provided for "other activities useful for entering the world of work" and internships. With regard to the courses, credits are not normally recognized for non-university experiences or courses, but it is suggested to contact the teachers of the courses provided for in the study program ("Manifesto degli Studi") on topics similar to those of the extra-university courses followed (example, Fire prevention systems and systems and course "Italian law 818"), agreeing, if necessary, an "ad hoc" exam program.
