Biography

Andrea Baiocchi received his “Laurea” degree in Electronics Engineering in 1987 and his “Dottorato di Ricerca” (PhD degree) in Information and Communications Engineering in 1992, both from the University of Roma “La Sapienza”. Since January 2005 he is a Full Professor in Communications in the School of Engineering of the University “La Sapienza”. The main scientific contributions of Andrea Baiocchi are on network traffic modelling, control and engineering, congestion control, queuing theory, radio resource management, vehicular networking. His current research interests are focused on ICT for intelligent transportation systems, specifically vehicular networking, on traffic engineering for TCP/IP networks, specifically TCP adaptation and packet scheduling over the wireless access interface, and on network traffic analysis. These activities have been carried out also in the framework of many national (CNR, MUR) and international (European Union, ESA) projects, also taking coordination and responsibility roles of research units. Andrea Baiocchi has published more than a hundred and sixty papers on international journals and conference proceedings, he has participated to the Technical Program Committees of about seventy international conferences; he also served in the editorial board of the telecommunications technical journal published by Telecom Italia for ten years.
