Course Description:
This intensive course navigates the evolution of microscopy, from its historical foundations to the latest breakthroughs in advanced techniques. Under the guidance of prominent experts, participants will embark on a journey through fundamental principles and cutting-edge applications in the realm of life sciences microscopy. The curriculum encompasses a wide spectrum of topics, including the basics of fluorescent microscopy, conventional and confocal light microscopy, and innovative approaches like multiphoton microscopy, DEEP SIM, and STED. Transmission and CryoElectron Microscopy, along with clearing techniques, will be explored, providing a comprehensive understanding of the tools shaping modern microscopy. This course serves as a dynamic platform, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among professionals in the field.
The course not only delves into theoretical aspects but also offers practical insights through hands-on sessions, ingluding a specialized session on image analysis using ImageJ, contributing to a well-rounded educational experience.
- Ten students will be selected to participate to engage with the Nikon Eclipse 80i epifluorescent microscope, on the basis of research interest and project.
- Personal evaluation of the course through an online questionnaire to fill up.
- To assess comprehension, participants will undergo a multiple-choice test at the course's conclusion, determining their mastery of the material and eligibility for the coveted attendee certificate.
- Prerequisites: A background in basic microscopy is recommended.
