The Cesati Herbarium

It belonged to Baron Vincenzo Cesati di Vigadore (1806-1883), Professor of Botany and Director of the Botanical Garden of the University of Naples since 1868. It includes Cesati’s personal collections from Italy, especially Lombardy, Piedmont and Campania, together with specimens collected by a large number of Italian and foreign collaborators and correspondents (European and non-European). Noteworthy is the number of type material coming both from Cesati's own collections, especially in the field of phanerogamy and mycology, and from original collections of numerous botanists.
