Urban Furniture Design for Saint Malo was a one week workshop in January 2014, held by a guest professor Pierangelo Caramia together with prof. Carlo Martino.Students formed six groups and elaborated proposals for six different sites of the city of Saint Malo (Bretagne, France), a characteristic harbour town with noteworthy sailing tradition.Groups developed families of public furniture, complete with a pavilion serving site specific urban needs. Moreover, great attention was paid to fitting aesthetically the furnitures to the visual language of the city, balancing between contemporary design and the use of traditional materials and visual clues. At the end of the workshop students had the chance of presenting their work to academic and industry representatives from Bretagne.
