Curriculum Chemical Engineering for Innovative Processes and Products

  • The curriculum "Chemical Engineering for Innovative Processes & Products" includes some  mandatory activities in 7 subjects: Mathematical methods for chemical engineering, Economics of technology and management, Non equilibrium thermodynamics with an application to the microscale, Separation processes with an application to lab-on-chips, Water treatment processes and environmental technology, Computer-aided process control, Theory and development of process design. 
  • Four subjects must be chosen among the list of recommended subjects that allow students to deepen their knowledge in an area in which they are interested in. They include the following: Applied metallurgy, Characterization techniques for materials, Corrosion engineering, Sustainable design of materials, Green chemistry and process engineering, Process and product safety in the chemical industry, Macromolecular structures and principles of biochemical engineering, Nanobiotechnology, Transport phenomena in microsystems and micro/nano reactive devices.
  • The curriculum is completed by elective subjects, by activities that may be useful for entering the job market (seminars which expand the knowledge of the students and help them create contacts with company representatives) and by activities related to the final exam, such as drafting and presenting a graduation thesis. Through the graduation thesis, a specific topic in the field of chemical engineering must be discussed in an original and in-depth manner.

Admmission requirements

  • To be admitted to the Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering students must hold a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or equivalent, eligible for the Italian laws.  Moreover, they must possess specific prerequisites, which concern the curricula they attended during their Bachelors Degree and their personal preparation. 

As far as the curriculum is concerned, the, students must have acquired a specific number of credits in various subjects:

  • not less than 42 ECTS in basic scientific subjects (Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Computer science);
  • not less than 42 ECTS in Chemical engineering subjects (such as Materials engineering, Metallurgy, Thermodynamics, Transport phenomena, Chemical plants, Process control, Applied and Industrial chemistry, etc);
  • not less than 15 ECTS in industrial engineering (such as Fluid mechanics, Applied Mechanics, Electricity, Machinery, etc.).
  • For students holding a non-EU Bachelor degree,  1 ECTS corresponds to 10 hours of lectures.

The personal preparation is assessed on the basis of the knowledge of the English language and of the average grade that the students achieved during their Bachelor degree exams.

  • The student must possess one of the following proof of English language competence certificates: CEFR grade ≥ B2; IELTS grade ≥ 6; Cambridge FCE- Grade B or CAE-Grade C, ETS-TOEFL paper-delivered grade ≥ 547 or internet-delivered grade ≥78.
  • The student must have achieved an average grade in the Bachelor degree exams, calculated as the average of all grades weighted on the basis of the corresponding number of ECTS, is ≥ 22.5 / 30 or, in GPA (or equivalent) ≥ 7.5 /10
  • GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) test with a final grade in the upper quartile is a preferential title (non mandatory).

Tuition fee
