Seminar by M. Ginolfi on AI and palimpsests

On May 26, 2023 at 11:00, Dr. Michele Ginolfi (University of Florence, Italy) will give a talk entitled "Semantic segmentation of overwritten text in Palimpsests" in which he will use the handwritten tradition of Priscian, studied by the PAGES Project, as a case study for the application of AI and of physics technologies to the reading of palympsest manuscripts.

The final part of the talk will present Herakoi, an inclusive motion-sensing sonification experiment allowing users to interact with images and listen to the "sound" of their pixels, by virtually touching them.

The seminar will take place at the Laboratorio di tecniche Nucleari per l'Ambiente e i Beni Culturali (LABEC) of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN), Florence, via Bruno Rossi 1, Sesto Fiorentino (FI).

To attend the event online on Zoom, please contact PAGES post-doc Michela Perino.
