You are not subject to visa if:

1. you are a citizen of an European Union Member State or of Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Swiss Confederation, Republic of San Marino and Vatican City State;
2. you have  dual citizenship, one of which is of an EU Country;
3. you are a citizen of a non-EU country but you hold one of the following residence permits issued by the Italian Government:

   • Eu residence permit for long –term stay;

   • residence permit for subordinate work and for self-employment;

   • residence permit for family reasons;

   • residence permit for asylum, for subsidiary protection or special reasons;

   • residence permit for religious reasons; 

   • residence document in electronic format for UK citizens  issued on the basis of the Art. 50 TUE – Art. 18.4 of the Withdrawal Agreement EU-UK.

4. you are a citizen of a non-EU country but you have been a legally resident in Italy for at least one year and you hold an upper secondary school qualification obtained in Italy which gives you access to the chosen degree programme;
5. you are a citizen of a non-EU country and you are enrolled in an Italian university, you hold a valid residence permit for study purposes and you wish to apply for a transfer or a change of programme for the following academic year. A change of program is only possible for student already enrolled in Sapienza;
6. you are a citizen of a non-EU country and you, one of your parents or your spouse is in service at a Diplomatic – consular mission or international organization working in Italy and accredited by the Italian Government or the Holy See.
