Economic Geography

 

Topics covered allow students to acquire advanced knowledge on national and international socio-political and geo-economic scenarios; to acquire a critical and transdisciplinary understanding of environmental, social, and political-economic challenges resulting from globalisation process and i ts spatial implications at the global level.

 

Ends:

• critically describe the transformations taking place in the global socio-economic, political-cultural and technological system;
• autonomously identify the interconnections between analysed transformations of global socio-political and economic systems;
• discuss the policies and initiatives adopted to deal with contemporary challenges.

3. Governance of globalization: scales, paradigms and institutions

Gli argomenti trattati permettono agli studenti di acquisire conoscenze avanzate sugli scenari socio-politici e geo-economici nazionali e internazionali; comprendere in maniera critica e transdisciplinare i cambiamenti ambientali, sociali e politico-economici che si sono verificati a seguito del processo di globalizzazione e le loro implicazioni spaziali a livello gliobale.

 

Obiettivi:

individuare e definire nei principali sistemi socio-economici e politici studiati le strutture portanti, i processi in atto e tendenziali e le criticità;

descrivere e commentare le trasformazioni in atto nel sistema socio-economico, politico-culture e tecnologico globale attraverso uno sguardo sistemico e critico;

identificare autonomamente le interconnessioni tra i diversi fenomeni di trasformazione dei vari sistemi socio-politici ed economici a livello transcalare;

analizzare criticamente le politiche e delle iniziative adottate per affontare i cambiamenti in atto.

1. La lettura geoeconomica e geopolitica dei fenomeni sociospaziali

2. Spazio geoeconomico: territori, regioni, reti

3. La governance della globalizzazione: scale, paradigmi e istituzioni

4. Globalizzazione dei sistemi produttivi

5. Questioni ambientali, conflitti e transizione ecologica nel mondo globale

6. Un caso di ricerca: l'inquinamento marino

7. Innovazione sociale digitale
