BIOELASTOMER 1
Biocycle
Bio-based hydrophobic polymers made with waste deriving from agro-food chains with the recovery of very high percentages of recycled material (from 50% to 80%) mixed with polymers of natural origin. These are new advanced composite materials with carefully modulated properties but at the same time with minimal environmental impact. The sample shown is a bioelastomer obtained with unmodified corn starch and mixed with PDMS (water repellent polymer) through a simple solvent casting process. The material has excellent mechanical and energy dissipation properties and it is biodegradable in 3-6 years.
