Lectures and conferences

The School opens the academic year with a Lectio magistralis given by foreign and Italian colleagues with  distinguished expertise  in the field of cultural heritage and archaeological studies.

2020-2021: 17 December 2020, Avinoam Shalem, Riggio Professor of Arts of Islam, Columbia University, New York, former Director of the American Academy in Rome: "On the Importance of Being the Earliest and on Ivory Before History".

2021-2022: 13 January 2022, Maurizio Forte, William and Sue Gross Distinguished Professor of Classical Studies, Duke University, Durham: "Archaeology 3.0: Visions, Models and Digital Dreams".

2022-2023: 3 February 2023, Francesco Bandarin, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre (2000-2010), Director-General for Culture, UNESCO (2010-2018): "50 Years of World Heritage: Successes, Limits and Prospects".
