Application (foreign students)

Foreign students (i.e. students with a foreign degree) having a master degree in any engineering discipline obtained in EU universities or an equivalent degree obtained outside EU can apply to the Special Master of Aerospace Engineering. Applicants possessing alternative degrees may also be considered by the School for admission. Moreover, applicants having a master degree (or an equivalent degree) in the area of aerospace engineering are enrolled directly as second-year students.

Applicants are strongly recommended to send their application as soon as possible so as to have, in case of admittance, enough time to plan the organizational/administrative aspects of their visa and of their stay in Rome.  Applications must be addressed to presidesia@uniroma1.it within 31 May 2017 for non-EU residents and within 1st December 2017 for EU resident. The application must include:

a) filled M1 application form (available here for download as doc or pdf file)
b) university diploma or temporary substitute
c) curriculum vitae
d) any other title (stages, working or academic experience, ect) useful to the evaluation of the student skills

The Board of the School will evaluate the application and, if eligible, the student will receive the admission letter.

Students who have not yet completed their course of study, but expect to complete it by August 2017, can apply to the Special Master program by supplying an official document from their university confirming the expected graduation date. This document will only be a temporary substitute for the official copy of the final diploma.

Instructions for enrolment are different for foreign students who are EU residents and for those who are non-EU residents.

As soon as you have the admission letter please start immediately the process for the student Visa and Declaration of Value (DoV) of your university title (it is the translation into Italian of the official transcript of your academic records done by an authority certified by the Italian Embassy/Consulate).

1.        Contact the nearest Italian Embassy/Consulate, ask for the list of documents needed for a student visa, and prepare all of them.

2.        Start as soon as possible at the Embassy/Consulate the “pre-registration” process needed to get your student visa. You will have to fill a form at the Embassy/Consulate with your personal data, and deliver some documents, including the invitation letter that you received from the School of Aerospace Engineering.

3.        Your invitation letter must also be sent by the School to the Italian Embassy/Consulate that you contacted.  Thus,  please send to presidesia@uniroma1.it as soon as possible the address and  e-mail of the Italian Embassy/Consulate that you contacted.

4.        Obtain immediately an original certification of your university degree, contact the Italian Embassy/Consulate located in the country where you got your degree, and follow the procedure for obtaining from them the Declaration of Value (DoV) of your university title.

The deadline for:

a)     Student Visa
b)    “Declaration of Value” of your university title

is July  2017. However some Italian Embassies/Consulates stop accepting visa application once a certain number of applications have been submitted. Therefore please send your requests for a) and/or b) to the Italian Embassy/Consulate as soon as possible.

Once you get your student visa and DoV, please arrive in Rome at the beginning of September 2017 and contact immediately the Student Office of the School of Aerospace Engineering, Via Salaria 851, 00138 Rome. Ph. +39-06-49919752 or +39-06-49919751. Please let us know in advance when you are arriving by sending an e-mail to presidesia@uniroma1.it.
