    Aims:

What are the landscapes of archeology? Why do we define them like this? Is there a specific one to refer to? It is likely that today they are also something else, that is that on the palimpsest of an antiquity that becomes archeology over time, further more or less precious sediments, more or less evident, legacies of nature and anthropic action are deposited.
On the other hand, if landscape as stated in the European Landscape Convention (Florence 2000) is the intertwining of a specific physical configuration of the territory, whether it is of a prevalent natural or anthropic character, with the individual perception of the inhabitant and / or of the observer, has a character of immanence. This affirmation implies a stance that has precise consequences in terms of policies, projects, management, also in relation to the pre-existing archaeological sites.
The course will try to focus on the different interpretations of the concept of landscape, with particular reference to the themes of long duration and the sedimentation of materials and meanings. It will focus on the presentation of theoretical positions and good practices related to the protection, enhancement and integration of the landscapes of archeology in the contemporary world. Finally, the results of research with an eminently operational character conducted on these issues will be presented, from the Appia Park to the ancient Etruscan city of Veio.
