    Profile: 

    Pietro Vannicelli is a historian of ancient Greece who graduated in 1986 at the University of Roma "La Sapienza" with Domenico Musti, under whose guidance he also obtained a PhD in Ancient History in 1991.
    From 1989 to 2001 he was a Research Fellow at the Instituto per gli studi micenei ed egeo-anatolici of the CNR, where he directed research programmes devoted to the history of Boeotia from the Mycenaean to the Archaic period, to the Homeric Catalogue of Ships, and to the Greek historiographic tradition about the peoples of the Near East.
    From 2001 to 2009 he was Associate Professor of Greek History by the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Urbino. In December 2009 he moved as Associate Professor of Greek History to the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Rome "La Sapienza", where he has been full professor of Greek History since November 2020. His main scientific interests include archaic and classical Greek history, the history of Greek political thought, and ancient historiography.
