Non-EU Mobility
Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) – KA171
The Erasmus+ ICM programme, funded by the European Commission, allows students and staff to spend a period of study or teaching/training in non-EU countries and vice versa.
Outgoing students
The Erasmus+ ICM offers selected outgoing students a scholarship of 700 euros per month plus travel expenses.
All scholarship holders can attend courses at the host university without paying fees. Furthermore, Sapienza University of Rome will recognize all the activities carried out abroad as established in the Learning Agreement.
Student mobility can last from a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 6 months (possibly to be extended up to 12 months out of which 6 months without a Zero-EU grant).
The ICM scholarship also covers research mobility at the PhD level with the same duration.
Academic Staff
Outgoing academic staff receive a daily scholarship according to the provisions of the Erasmus+ ICM programme combined with the University academic trips’ regulation for the maximum period allowed for that destination plus travel expenses.
Academic staff mobility lasts from a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 21 days (including the two travel days). The duration varies according to the distance between Sapienza University of Rome and the academic staff's hosting institution.
Incoming students
The Erasmus+ ICM offers selected incoming students 850 euros per month plus travel expenses.
All scholarship holders can attend courses at the host university without paying fees.
Furthermore, all the activities carried out at the Sapienza University of Rome shall be recognized by the home university as established in the Learning Agreement.
Student mobility can last from a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 6 months (possibly to be extended up to 12 months out of which 6 months without a Zero-EU grant).
The ICM scholarship also covers research mobility at the PhD level with the same duration.

Incoming academic staff receive a daily scholarship of 160 euros for the maximum period allowed, plus travel expenses.
Academic staff mobility lasts from a minimum of 7 to a maximum of 21 days (including the two travel days).
The duration varies according to the distance between the hosting institution of the academic staff and Sapienza University of Rome.
IISMA - Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards
Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) is a scholarship scheme by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia to fund Indonesian students for a one-semester-mobility program at top universities and reputable industries overseas. IISMA will expose Indonesian students to international academic and cultural diversity by offering two schemes for undergraduate and vocational students.
Bilateral Agreement Scholarships
Thanks to funding provided by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), Sapienza provides Bachelor, Master, and PhD Students (who are not on scholarships) with the opportunity to enjoy a period of studies abroad either to take exams or work on their theses, in one of over 200 non-EU universities that have bilateral agreements with Sapienza University.
Bilateral mobility agreements between Sapienza University and other universities provide reciprocal advantages to outgoing and incoming students as neither have to pay any additional tuition fees.
Non-EU Traineeship Opportunities
Other opportunities are offered for students in scientific and technical faculties and recent humanities graduates who wish to attend a traineeship in Japan (Vulcanus) and Australia (Co.As.It).
Vulcanus: The objectives of the programme are to get acquainted with the range of advanced technologies employed by a leading Japanese host company, to learn Japanese, and to understand and appreciate Japanese culture with a view to an enriching one-year experience abroad, to provide an opportunity for students to interact with Japanese business and people. Applicants are selected based on their academic record and the opinion of their tutors, their knowledge of written and spoken English, their motivation, their attitude to EU-Japan relations, and their ability to adapt to a different culture.
Co.As.It: Recent humanities graduates can travel to Melbourne (Australia) to assist Italian language teachers in Victoria’s schools. Applications will be evaluated considering the career and academic merit and language certificates after an oral interview.
