The course aim is to provide students with basic elements of knowledge concerning the main air transport systems operations and services

    The elements of an air transport system. Air transport: evolution and regulations. The environments of the air transport. Basics of flight aerodynamics. Types and characteristics of aircrafts. Fixed wing aircrafts performance. Fuel consumption. Flight mission. Air navigation systems (air traffic control and navigation services). Airport facilities: airside and landside. Runways characteristics, take-off and landing. Take-off and landing performance. Visual-based technologies for landing. The airport classification to all-weather operations. The passenger air terminal: functions and typologies. Airport capacity. Operating costs. Environmental problems related to air transport
